  • Well it's that time again...Does everyone know what time it is?? IT'S UPDATE TIME!!! (Guess where that's a rip off of??)  Anyway things have been going pretty steadily with work and everything. I only had a 3 day work week and have Friday thru Sunday off.  I did go out to the firing range for the first time and didn't get my weapon zeroed, sighted, or qualified.  I realized how cold it really gets up here and how much it sucks standing out side for 10 hours.  A word of advice for anyone who goes shooting during the winter; don't let water get into your rifle because it will freeze in the bolt causing it to jam.  Try shooting 50 rounds with every round jamming and having to clear it in minus 20...oh my fingers were cold.

Well my weekend started when I got off of work, and me and my roommate saw "King Kong."  Oh it was a compeling story about adventure, mystery, beauty and the beast.  Ok ok I'm done with the melodramatics.  I honestly thought the action was great especially the fight between Kong and the Dinosaurs, but the move does tend to be melodramatic.  Overall I liked it.  Well Friday was a great day because what started out was a trip to go ice skating evolved into a road trip down to Syracuse.  It has been years since I have been ice skating and I pretty much got the hang of it.  It's sorta similar to roller blading.  I can start, but I have trouble stopping.  Well the wall works pretty well, but don't slam into the wall by the hockey benches.  If you do try not to flip over the wall and slam into the hockey benches...painful memories.  And also don't call on experts because spreading your legs to stop doesn't work...THANKS KELSEY I NEED A NEW PAIR OF PANTS!!!  Well I can cross over while turning and semi stop, but the 7 year old on skates is still kicking my ass.  After that we went to Syracuse and bumbed around at the mall.  We finished the night off at a gentlemens club...wow...

You know what the funny thing is I have a "Sprenger" for a roommate...I mean he LOVES video games but doesn't beat me up like Mike did.  As of yesterday he got his PS2 and Xbox in the mail and I havn't been able to get to the TV since.  He is a die hard RPG fan, but redeems himself by having Fable and Halo 2...sweet...Well I gtg so leave me some love and some juicy comments...Cya Kyle

  • I'm currently here in New York or Watertown New York is the nearest "city," which is about the size of Grand Forks. I arrived here last Sunday.  The guys in my squad are great and I met a guy that lived in GF and graduated from Red River last year. Things were busy starting out the week now have slowed down because the weekend has been ours. Last couple of days have been spent buying things for the room and we saw Syriana last night. A word of advice don't go see Syriana...if you are interested in seeing move that dwells on the importance of oil on a global scale and how it has burrowed itself into the depths of American politics and economics to the point of sabotage, murder, and treachery.  Then all means go see the movie, but if the last words of the last sentence make you want to don't because there is not action and you will be listening to mind numbing dialoque for 2 hours.  It's a dialogue drama and thats it....I'm currently at the library and I need to answer some emails...Cya Kyle...

  • It's about time I posted but I have been putting it off for no real reason.  Last Weekend was the highlight of my leave because of the Static X concert in Fargo.  All I can really say is WOW!!!!!!!  All the bands Opiate for the Masses, Ill Nino, and Static X were great performers.  Nothing really says I love Rock like a grunting mosh pit full of swetty shirtless men and those few crazy balsy punk/goth chicks just having a throwdown on a concrete floor to the strum of a angered inspired riff.  That's right I was a shirtless hethen and I ate the concrete a few too many times.  But I look at the bright side besides the numerous cuts, scratches, bruises, and inability to move my shoulder: I still have all my teeth; unleashing 5 months of emotion bottled up under the hawkish eyes of the drill sergeant; and BATTLE SCARS!!!.  I was really surprised about a few things when I was moshing; there is like a silent code of conduct to the pit or is it just our instinct to help one in need?  When you fall people help you up and then throw you back into the Mosh Pit...It's great.  Thanks Justine and some goth chick for throwing the bastards off of when i face planted it...You saved my life!!!!  I will always remember that night and the fact when we left the steam that rows off us all when we stepped into the cold Dakota air...you would have thought you were in a sana.  And the 3 hours afterwards just chilling, BSing, and trying to finish off my still.  I wish I had photos but I don't have a digital carmera...

On Sunday I saw a strange movie involving Spelling Bees and Jewish Mysticism called Bee Season.  Well maybe the plot would explain why we were to only two there...it was a great time.  Despite how it sounds the movie actually made sense in a way that can't be expressed in words, but only in the feelings of human understanding and reason (If that made sense wait until you see my thesis on, "The Real Matrix: THE MOVIES WERE TRUE!!!!)

Those are pretty much the important details of what has happened thus far.  I have been thinking alot lately and this question came up, "What is Best in Life??"  Or a question I stole from another xanga..."What is the best gift you can ever recieve??"  I really don't know what is best...is it a family with a big house, a white picket fence, and a dog named Fido...The American Dream right??  Idk but given my experience with livestock and outdoors I wouldn't mind having my own ranch or just a piece of wilderness I can call my own...The best gift maybe something that you know I would like and you surprise me with it...example my ipod...it plays videos...Now where do I get media in the right format??  Leave me some love, comments, and whatever BS you want...Cya Kyle...

PS Damn that was a long post...I leave on Saturday for New York for how long idk if you want to hang out call me 218-230-4709

  • Where do I start?  This week has had it's ups and downs, but it climaxed and ended pretty well.  All of my plans fell through in one way or another, but I'm thankful for friends.  I give a special thanks to Kayla for picking up the pieces on Friday night...your a true friend.  All of this week I have been working with the recruiting office in GF and hanging out with friends when I can.  I saw Jarhead last Sunday and it's a must see for any fan of war movies.  It doesn't focus on the kill or carnage that Platoon or Apocolypse Now did.  It dealt more with the marines downtime or preparation for the invasion.  Thursday I saw the play Fiddler on the Roof in Grafton.  Good job Nicole in the play your preformance was ah inspiring.  Friday I saw Harry Potter at 12:01am and I saw Saw 2 later that evening.  I thought Harry Potter was alright, but I can't say much because I never read Goblet of Fire.  I got stood up to see Saw 2 that night and ended up going with Kayla and her dad.  Saw 2 has to be one of my favorite movies; I can't wait for Saw 3.  Saturday was the highlight with our trip to Seven Clans Casino.  We swam and gambled, I'm up $25 in Black Jack...Watch out this High Roller is going PRO!!!!  When we got back since I'm not Deer Hunting I silenced my primal killer instinct with a Bloody Game of DUCK HUNT!!!!  I was my sister's DD and finished the party back at her apartment...I'm sorry about the rug.  Sunday was pretty low key with just visiting people and church.  I'm going to bed so leave me some love while I'm gone...Cya Kyle

  • Home Sweet Home!!!  I'm BACK!!!!

I'm now a member of the Elite US Army Infantry cause of "Turning Blue" on Thursday,"  and that was made official with graduation on Friday.  I'm now back at home and relaxing before I have to work for the Army Recruiter for the next 2 weeks.  Yesterday I returned home and hung out with the Guys again.  It was different because I really don't know what to say about the last 18 weeks; what has happened and what I'm going to be doing.  I'm already noticing that it's difficult to adjust between being home and on base.  Everything is working out alright, but I'm having some conflicts with my parents.  Tonight looks great because we are going to see "Jarhead."  How big of a difference the Army is from the Marines?  Can I relate to them in anyway?  Only time will tell and the movie starts in 40 minutes.  I'm here until the 5th of December so if you want to hang out post, comment, or give me a ring 218-230-4709.  Cya Kyle

PS I'll post the grad pictures when they get developed...

  • Well I'm on Pass once again and I'm down at the PX using the computers.  Since I graduated Basic training last week I'm now in AIT (Advanced Individual Training).  Things have shifted focus a little bit from just getting aquainted with basic tasks a drills to learning how to actually fight.  We're working on how to engage opposition and you really begin to see how dangerous this job really is.  You really learn that you have to rely on your buddy and can't hesitate because it can mean your life or someone else's.  To be honest we are training to become Soldiers that kill not murder.  I hate to say it that it's not a pretty job, but someone has to do it so we all can live free.  There is no freedom without war.  I have heard and seen alot of miscontent for the current war, but it has to be fought to keep the battle off our shores.  That's my two cents for now...

In other news I graduate from AIT on Veteran's Day and might becoming home shortly after that for home town recruiting.  I know the title doesn't sound great but I get to be home for about 2 weeks.  That's if everything works out right...Well I got to go...Cya Kyle...

  • Well happy Columbus Day for all those that celebrate that holiday.  All I know is I have a day off and I'm on pass because of Columbus...Thanks Buddy from the bottom of my heart.  Well I now have 4 weeks of training left since I graduated Basic on Saturday.  This last weekend was pretty good because I finally got off the base, the first time in 3 months.  My Dad and grandparents came down and we pretty much just relaxed in the hotel room.  I got to eat chips with french onion dip, sour patch kids, and those little debby oatmeal cookies with creme filling...oh it was good.  I pretty much talked on the phone with family and friends, listened to the new Disturbed CD, and watch Platoon with my dad.  I found out that I'm going to be heading to New York for my first assignment when I graduate.  Everything is looking good and everyone sounds like they're fine.  Well I'll write when I can...Cya Kyle...

PS Ten Thousand Fists is great...

  • Well I'm now on my 8th week of BASIC now and I'M ON CRUTCHES!!!  It's not that bad...I just have a wound on my foot.  Well BASIC Training is as hard as you make it...I'm good and I'm going to be home in Mid November.  So make plans to party up in Ttown and leave me some love....Cya Private Slaathaug

  • Well the time has come for me to say goodbye.  This will most likely be my last post for a long long long time because I'm leaving Tuesday for Basic Training for the Army.  I'm have my Basic and my AIT (Infantry Training or Airborne if I can get in) all at Fort Benning Georgia so I'm going to be gone 4 months min.  I have to say the summer has been awesome and I thank everyone who reads my blog.  Well leave me some love and I'll get back to you as soon as I can...Cya Kyle

  • Well this week has been stressful because of work and my car broke down last week.  I have been driving my grandpa's Datson Pickup and enjoying every minute of it.  Well the start of the week went as normal and I got the pickup.  We actual got some of the haying done because the rain cleared up this week.  We used the time and I worked about 60 hours this week, it was a pretty short week for haying.  When I did have down time I made use of the pickup only to up my hick image for the week.  On Friday I got off work and saw Land of the Dead with my brother, went to Tim's bonfire, and fucked around with Brett until 5am.  Land of the Dead was great because it was a zombie movie and that decked out El Camino was sweet.  The bonfire was fun and Jess and Kayla from Park River came after the races were done.  The events with Brett are to illegal to describe, but wow is all I can say.  On Saturday I worked 12 hours on 4 hours of sleep and I never want to do that again.  After work I met up with the guys and then left to hang out at Steph's party.  I have never seen some people act like such ass before.  I wonder if they are just looking for attention or what.  I left at 4am and came home and slept for 12 hours since Sunday was my day off.  I woke up and have basically played Starcraft with mike the entire day...well its time to sleep...Cya Kyle
