It's 0522 EST on Sunday and I can't sleep. So I'm surfing to past the time. This is my world through I eyes...
I have a 4 day weekend this week and it's been pretty quiet. Nothing too exciting except I have had some strange fascination with Google Video all because of Isaac and his SWEET Ttowner Movie. I'm not that big into Poetry but I learned alot in Speech...enough to say that there is poetry out there that I like. And just to spice this up a bit here is one of my favorites...
Invictus
Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.
In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud,
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.
Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find me, unafraid.
It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.
--
William Ernest Henley
It's Dark, It's Defiant...I love it. "Invictus" in Latin means
unconquerable and the title suits the poem if you look back on his
life. In a sense it's autobiographical because it defines the man
he became after battling Tuberculosis that left him crippled for the
rest of his life. He wrote "Invictus" on his death bed and I live by
his words...
I am the Master of my Fate: I am the Captain of My Soul....
