Chosin and the Russian....
But we in it shall be remembered-
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother;
~HENRY V, William Shakespeare, 1599~In "Crispian Day" speech by William Shakespeare, the poet and playwrite, sheds light on the bonds of brotherhood and comradery forged in combat. He speaks of how a single event can change and unite individuals for the rest of their lives. What he never mentioned was how that brotherhood can cross and connect generations. That's what I truely learned last week when the WW2 and Korean Veterans from the Chosin Battalion (named after the Battle of Chosin Reservoir, Korean War) visited the base. Brothers in name are brothers in spirit. I got to reminisce (more like I listened to all the war stories) with them and realized we all went through the same feeling, problems, joys, and I found it easy to connect a generation 50 years older than me. I was surprised to find that we each thought each others conflicts were harder. And when they found out my grandpa was in the same unit in Korea too...wow is all I can say. There was a memorial for our fallen in Afghanistan and a memorial for the WW2 and Korean fallen. We all lost friends and brothers and this says it better than any words I could ever utter...The following poem was taken from the back the pamphlet from the memorial service. Do to format errors the poem is it displayed correctly. The capital letters is a new line and if reduplicated give the proper credit to Chuck Hall. Thanks You...
Remembrance
The shell scarred the hills now bloom again, Silent now the guns, Where young men died when country called, Fathers, brothers, husbands, sons, We knew them well, brave comrades, We see their faces yet, We hear them say, "Remember us," As thought we could forget.
So now the ground is broken, To remember them in stone, A hallowed place for quiet thoughts, Of years so quickly flown, And now their country pays a debt, For so long overdue, But wait, where are these heroes' names, The fallen we once knew?
They were no faceless spirits, They loved, they laughed, the cried, They knew the heat of battle. They lived, they fought, they died. Now carve their names in deeply, Name the years cannot erase, A name to be remembered, For each remembered face.
Sounds the bugle soft and slowly, And softly roll the drum. For while we stand and honor them, We know they too shall come. They too shall be here with us, From heaven's distant shore, The long forgotten heroes, Of a long forgotten war.
~Chuck Hall, Chosin Survivor~
I wouldn't really call this important, given the above entry, but I saw an awesome movie over the weekend. This isn't your typical Hollywood movie, because there is action sequences and no costly explosions. What drives the movie is plot and characters. The movie is called "Eastern Promises."
The film follows the mysterious and ruthless Nikolai (Viggo Mortensen), who is tied to one of London's most notorious organized crime families. His carefully maintained existence is jarred when he crosses paths with Anna (Naomi Watts), an innocent midwife trying to right a wrong, who accidentally uncovers potential evidence against the crime families. The story feels a little slow at points, but it grabs your attention and holds you till the end. I think this movie is going to win best picture...In the Army you learn to say goodbye and I say it to a medic who left for another duty station...Enjoy the pics...Leave me some love...Cya Kyle...

This weekend was pretty memorable because I saw Projekt Revolution in Buffalo NY. 10 Bands on 2 stages and my back is still hurting from the mosh pit. Well I really don't have much too say except at bigger concerts in the mosh pits people are out for blood. Well I'll let the pictures tell the story and until this weekend because Drowning Pool and Candlebox are playing...Enjoy...Cya Kyle...

New York Irish...
I don't know if I can keep this up especially since it's only been a week since my last post. Hope yall are enjoying the frequency of my posts, if you're not shut up and read it anyways. Well the biggest news is last night I went and saw 2 Irish Punk Bands in concert in Utica NY. I'm familar with Flogging Molly and my dad's Irish Drinking Song Classics CD, but nothing compares to a live preformance. I saw The Tossers and Drop Kick Murphys and I have never enjoyed myself at a concert that much before. I have been in a mosh pit several times, but this one tops them all; I ran into several guys who we had something in common and ran the pit.;[' One of the funny things about the night was the concert was held outside a brewery and the dance floor ran with pale ales and dark lagers. I can say if you are fan of country or blue grass Irish Bands are a must see. I would have taken pictures but cameras weren't allowed in. Here are some promotion pics and I have church at 11am so good night...Cya Kyle....

It's that time for an actual post because I have been putting it off for several months. I don't have much to say but I guess I can talk about my work week if it can keep your attention. Everyone is back from leave and we are starting to "work again." This can pretty much be summed up in "physical training" (torture cause I'm hurting) after 18 months without any type of PT. Rucking or mountaineering I don't count as PT more like a kick in the balls. I was up for 24 hours on duty yesterday and I think today I'm going to Bourne Ultimatum. Well here are some pics...Enjoy and Take Care...Cya Kyle...

The Title is Untitled...
I really don't know what I'm going to write about, so just bear with me. Things have been good and bad, but never overwhelming as I thought somethings would be. I'm definitely calmer than when I was on mid-tour leave, but that is open to interpretation. I have definitely learned alot regarding change and consequences; how easy it is to burn bridges; and the hypocrasy of being an adult and restricted by the law. Leave so far has been pretty easy going, but I often find myself beating my head against the wall from boredom (figure of speech). I have been to the races, tubing, bon-fires, 4 or 5 movies, hanging out, road tripping, and the all important fireworks....
Word of advice stay away from fireworks and jumpy movies...1408 was a trip...Cya Kyle...
